Download Tuesday

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 10:42 PM

First of all, thanks to everybody who signed my "yearbook" at Anime Expo. On Day 0, I thought it would be a fun idea to try and fill it up and it turned out pretty good.

Alright, onward to another fascinating edition of Download Tuesday. Today's new releases for Rock Band included the Green Day pack--3 songs from the "21st Century Breakdown" album. I actually got the chance to try all of these songs on drums hard level or above and vocals expert level.

First song is "East Jesus Nowhere", which is probably considered the random song of this pack.

For drums it's the most difficult song of the pack. On hard level it wasn't too difficult. I failed it once, but I was just being stupid and goofing off. It's not a difficult song at all. On expert vocals it was more of a challenge. Even though I've heard the CD enough times, there really isn't too much about this song that sticks in my head so I really didn't know how the verses went. I passed it. I didn't come close to failing it, but it was not easy. I have to learn the song a bit better. I was just trying to match the tone and it kinda sucked.

Next song is "Know Your Enemy". It gets a lot of airplay these days so everybody should be familiar with it.

It's has a decent difficulty rating on drums. I actually tried it on expert a few times at first and failed at about 25%. I gotta learn those triple kick drum hits. It shouldn't be hard to beat on expert with a bit more practice. On hard, it's a piece of cake. Expert vocals is quite fun. I know the song well at this point so I can just belt it out no problem.

Finally, we have "21 Guns" for you Revenge of the Fallen people.

This is one of the easiest Rock Band songs ever.  It gets a difficulty rating of 0 dots in every category.  Honestly, even though it's easy, it's one of the most fun songs I've played on the whole game.  Maybe it's just because I really like this song.  It's fantastic.  I didn't even bother with hard drums and went straight to expert and it was no problem.  Yeah, the difficulty rating is 0, but there are some parts where you do have to work fairly hard, but since it's so slow, it's easy hit the more complicated parts of the song and look like a total badass in the process.  There's a lot of fun little cymbal sequences.  Expert vocals is fairly straightforward.  It's easy to score over 100,000 if you have any vocal skills at all.  Easy song but my favorite out of the 3-song pack.  Green Day pack is really good.

I finished the night off with something I call the "RotF Set", which consists of "21 Guns", "This Is It" by Staind and "Almost Easy" by Avenged Sevenfold.

I want to play with some people.  It's been awhile.  :P

AX Day 0: Getting Stuff Accomplished

  • Jul. 1st, 2009 at 9:05 PM

I spent about 90 minutes at AX Day 0. The traffic is lighter. People must already be leaving town for the holiday. Press and Industry registration were in the same place. I found two lines and no signage. After about 15 minutes and working my way up a line, I found out I was in the wrong line. Welcome to AX.

I was actually able to get some stuff accomplished:

DSC_8298

I got some folks to sign my memory pages my official AX program. hahaha  Thanks to [info]mingswly , [info]luffyxii , and [info]blanklogo  for signing my program and getting me on an early start towards being productive at AX.  [info]asianschoolboy  wouldn't sign it.  Boooooo!!!!  There four pages to get filled so I need to get crackin'.  Yay!!  Something to keep myself busy.  I feel like I'm in high school for cryin' out loud.  Surprisingly ran into quite a few folks in the few minutes I was there.  Yes, I did start on my rants early while I was there.  Somebody set me off.  What do you expect of me??

I'll be back Friday night.  Sign my yearbook...errr....program guide.

Oh yeah, police have blocked Chick Hearn Wy. (the street between LA  Live and Staples Center).  They're prepping for Michael Jackson's funeral.  It's going to be a zoo down there.

Weekend Recap

  • Jun. 29th, 2009 at 11:09 PM

Saturday morning, I headed out to the IE for the much delayed Magic Knight Rayearth photoshoot with [info]_shiya_wind , [info]ycysusan , and [info]tenshiyaki . On my way out there, the A/C in my car ran out of refrigerant. This was probably the hottest day of the year and it was probably over 100 degrees during parts of the day. I wasn't the the only photographer out there. We also had [info]chase_the_bunny , [info]evalime , [info]sklathill , and [info]blanklogo . [info]slave_to_anime was also with us, but he wasn't taking any photos. Originally, we were supposed to meet at Shiya's house 11AM, but things never seem to work out as scheduled. Some people showed up late and of course, the girls had to fix their costumes and get dressed, so we didn't get out of the house until about 2PM. It was the hottest part of the day. We headed out in two cars to the Lytle Creek area, which was about a 15 minute drive from the house. There were quite a few people out at the creek having picnics and having a good old time. The kids were kinda curious about the costumes when we got there, but otherwise, the people left us alone.

A few photos... )

It was a fun time. We had a really fun group out there in the boonies. It was tough on me because of the heat. It just took away all of my energy, but I still managed to be productive. A little after 6 PM, we started back down the hill and back to Shiya's house for some refreshments. One of her kittens tried to steal some of my nasty melted M&Ms by trying to climb all over me, but I wouldn't let him have any. Cats can't have those.

After that, most of us headed out to Victoria Gardens shopping center for dinner and casual photoshoot. The girls were in their wigs and casual clothing. We ended up eating in the food court because a lot of the good restaurants had really long lines. That was okay since it looked like most of us wanted to eat different things. After dinner, we wandered around while [info]sklathill handled the casual photos. The girls had their photos taken in fountains and trains and outside shops and just walking down the sidewalk. Some random woman even wanted to take their photo because they looked so cool. At about 9PM, those of us who were left went back to Shiya's house. I just dropped off my passengers and promised to meet again next weekend. Then, I was off to [info]strongest_shld 's house for video games and pizza.

I got there at about 10PM, but better late than never. We spent several hours playing various versions of Guitar Hero. I seemed to have spent an equal amount of time between vocals and drums. I'm not used to the Guitar Hero drum kit and I was so lost on it. Vocals was fun because I wanted to do some songs that would torture the people on the instruments. Singing "Through the Fire and the Flames" was fun while all of the musicians were suffering, but we managed to get trough it on the second try. We had to kick [info]asianschoolboy off the drum kit because his one-armed Def Leppard technique wasn't going to get the job done. The Metallica version was also pretty fun. I had a good time singing "Fade to Black". I've always wanted to sing that song as well as "One". Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" was also on there, so I gave that a try. It's always fun to play these games with a full band. I got home at about 2AM. I was dead tired.

Sunday, I slept in a little bit before heading out to the Irvine Spectrum IMAX for the new Transformers movie. I chose that theater because it has a bit more legroom than the IMAX at Howard Hughes Center. It was great to see it in IMAX even though I'm one of those people that gets dizzy and disoriented very easily. There were times when there was a whole lot of stuff going on and it was a bit much for me. I really enjoyed the movie. It was good. There's a lot of explosions and destruction. A lot times, it seemed really pointless, but I can deal with that. It's really loud, too. Can't wait for part 3.

After getting home, I had to urge to play Rock Band and specifically Staind's "This is It" for a few tries. I've had that download for awhile, and after seeing Transformers, I just wanted to play it. It's never been one of the more popular songs in my library. Nobody has ever played it except me. Maybe it will be more popular now. Next week, the Green Day pack comes out with "21 Guns, "Know Your Enemy" and "East Jesus Nowhere". That's some good stuff. I probably won't be getting new songs this week. The Foreigner pack seemed like a good idea. I like Foreigner, but they didn't choose good songs for this pack. I guess next big post will be my pre-AX pep talk where I wish everybody a safe journey and have a good time and all of that good stuff.

GRAMMY Museum/Night at the JACCC

  • Jun. 26th, 2009 at 11:17 PM

It looks like the GRAMMY Museum re-opened the Michael Jackson exhibit earlier today.

http://www.grammymuseum.org/interior.php?section=exhibits&page=mjhistyle

I was fortunate to be able to see this exhibit earlier in the year.  The museum wasn't very busy when I went.  I imagine it will be a lot busier if I wanted to see this exhibit again.  My LJ post about my visit to the GRAMMY Museum is here.  A lot of you will be in town for AX next week.  If it floats your boat, go check it out.  The museum is at LA Live right across the street from the Holiday Inn.  It's amazing to see those things up close.

I just got back from Little Tokyo.  There were showings of Astro Boy, Gigantor, and Voltron in the plaza in front of JACCC.  The turnout was quite good.  I'd say that over 1,000 people were out there.  Fred Ladd was there to give a few comments and sign stuff.  Geez, a lot of that old skool stuff makes absolutely no sense and is super cheesy.  But that's good.  I went mainly for Voltron, and I wasn't too pleased with the way they presented it.  Instead of playing the audio of the video that was on, they thought it would be cool for a DJ to spin a bunch of trance music during the whole thing.  We got to read the subtitles at least.  Not cool.  The music didn't even go with the action that was going on on the the screen.  It was totally random and inappropriate most of the time.  Stupid idea.  EDC is down the road.  Go away and let us have the correct audio.  Gigantor was just confusing.  Why is there some super secret evil army hiding in Antarctica?  We also got to see the trailer for the upcoming Astro Boy movie.  It's an updated version so it's a modern Pixar-looking movie.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson has passed away from a heart attack.  Yeah, he was kinda weird, but I was a big fan of his music.  His music was fun.

Weekend Recap -- With Photos

  • Jun. 21st, 2009 at 6:47 PM

First of all, I hope everybody enjoyed Fathers Day and did something nice for your father or if you are a father, I hope you had a good one.

I've missed my Friday workout two weeks in a row. I'll probably miss it again this Friday and the Friday after that. It's alright. It isn't screwing me up too badly. I blame the Kogi truck for all of this.

kogi1

I gave it another try on Friday because my first experience wasn't so great. This time a got there about 45 minutes before it was supposed to arrive. There were about 20 people already in line. The truck actually arrived 10 minutes early. It started taking orders at about 6:30. I was able to order my food before 7 PM. I wasn't starving like last time, so I was able to enjoy my food this time around. This time, I ordered the Korean BBQ burrito, Kogi Dog, and spicy chicken taco. I'll admit that the burritos actually fill you up. It's one of the things that I actually feel it worth the $5 price. You have to buy about 3-4 of the $2 tacos to fill you up. I had the Kogi Dog last time. I liked it so I had it this time. I finished eating, took a few photos so I can make an entry in my J!-ENT staff blog, and I was home by 8PM. I've been really tired lately, so I conked out early.

Saturday began with a brutal hike. )

It took a few hours to complete this 4+ mile hike. At the end I was completely exhausted. My knee was burning up. I limped back to the trailhead where I parked and I was in some pain. It was brutal especially with all the crap that I brought with me. I didn't expect it to be that tough. Even though it kicked my ass, I was very satisfied after completing it. Not soon after I got to my car. It started raining. It was too hard and didn't last long, but I guess I made it back in time.

Since I'm in Hacienda Heights... )

After my adventures in Hacienda Hills, I managed to still get out and see a movie when I got back to the South Bay.   I went to see "The Taking of Pelham 123".  I really liked it.  Some parts were really silly, but it was a good story with a good cast.  By the time I got home, I was just dead and in severe pain because of my knee.  I was limping very badly.  It was a good day.  I spent the evening relaxing and watching the Ninja Warrior marathon on G4.

Today, I felt better.  The knee is okay.  I went to the gym and then spent most of the day preparing the photos for this entry.

I guess the next two weeks are going to be a bit crazy.  I see a lot of you working so hard on your AX costumes.  Yes, you can do it.!!!  My plans for AX are still up in the air, but I have been dropping a few hints on my Twitter.    hahaha  follow me!!  Plug. Plug. Plug.

The new Transformers movie comes out this week.  When I go see this, I definitely want to see this in IMAX.  If I go, I'll probably go Friday night over at The Bridge and I'll probably get advance tickets.  At this theater, it's assigned seating, so there's no need to line up early and that's a definite advantage.  Friday night, it's either that or this.  That might also be fun.  Little Tokyo at night is pretty cool.  I dunno yet.

Download Thursday (Not My Fault)

  • Jun. 18th, 2009 at 9:59 PM

At last, Xbox Live is finally back and working and I was able to get the new downloads that I wanted to get and give them a try. This week, a lot of the publicity has been for the Spinal Tap pack. They released a new album this week and the downloads are some of the newer songs. If you look on forums, most Rock Band players including myself didn't give a rat's ass about the Spinal Tap pack. Maybe if they had older songs like "Sex Farm" , I'd probably be in. The pack that players were interested in was the Evanescence pack. Evanescence is another one of my favorite bands and I was really excited about this pack when I heard about it. These are songs that I've heard a million times. These are songs that I listen to when driving and I bang the heck out of the steering wheel. So, adding these to the Rock Band library is pretty cool. There are 3 songs in this pack, which brings the total of songs in my library to 260. I only tried each song once so here it goes.

First up, "Bring Me to Life"

All of the songs in this pack are given a difficulty rating of 3 dots on drums. On hard level, I didn't think it would be that much of a challenge. Honestly, I think this songs plays a bit harder than its rating. I don't know, but the first time I played it wasn't very pretty. Yeah, I passed, but it was harder that I thought it would be. The kick drum pattern is a bit tricky and it's what's preventing me from getting good streak going. On the first try, I was only able to kick it into overdrive only once. That's pretty crappy, but I guess I just need some practice.

Next up, "Call Me When You're Sober"

Another fun song, although it's really short. Again, it has a very tricky kick drum pattern. With this song, I don't think I hit overdrive even one time. The bridge is also pretty complicated at first. It's all timing and it just takes practice. It's fairly straightforward, but getting trough it was pretty sloppy. I passed it, but it wasn't a thing of beauty.

Finally, "Weight of the World". There isn't any official video to this so watch some dorky Death Note AMV.

This is the random song from this pack. There's always one song in a track pack that seems like they pulled it out of a hat. There are other songs that I probably would have like to have as the third song, but this is what they gave us. It's a pretty good. I love the chorus. Even though all of these songs have the same difficulty rating, this song is tough. Another tricky kick drum pattern and it's tough to get a streak going. It's tough to get into overdrive on this one.

I definitely want to get more practice with this pack. I definitely want to give the vocals a try. At least on hard level, I want to make it look a little easier. Right now, it's just a mess. I can muddle through them but so what?

More with the Iron Maiden pack )

So, that's two weeks of some pretty good DLC. I guess we'll know tomorrow what next weeks DLC is. I know there's a Green Day pack coming out next month. I hope it's not the huge country music pack that's in the works. I don't know who buys the country music. Next RB party should be pretty fun. I really want to do more singing next time.

Long Beach Comic Con

  • Jun. 17th, 2009 at 10:49 PM

Long Beach is going to have a comic convention??

http://www.longbeachcomiccon.com/index.html

I hope it's better than Wizard World.

Meanwhile, I haven't downloaded any new Rock Band DLC this week--not yet anyways.  Xbox Live went down for maintenance on Tuesday, which is when the new downloads come out.  It went back up earlier today and DLC for all games is completely screwed up.  Those of you with Xbox know the pain, but at least we can play online again.  Hopefully, it will all be working tomorrow.  Download Thursday--keep your fingers crossed.

Weekend Recap

  • Jun. 14th, 2009 at 10:30 PM

On Saturday, I went to [info]anime_chef 's birthday beach party.  I've never been to Doheny Beach before.  Actually, I rarely go to the beach.  A lot of people I know who don't leave near a beach think that everybody in LA loves going to the beach.  I go about twice a year.  If you don't like swimming, surfing, boating, etc., there aren't too many exciting things to do at the beach.  I got a bit lost and I didn't know that I would have to go halfway to San Diego, but I eventually made it.  It turned out to be a really nice beach day.  I was a little worried about the weather, but it was okay.  There was plenty of good food as usual.  We got to play beach volleyball on a much better court than we had last time.  The sand was really nice and didn't cut anybody up.  I ended up jamming a few fingers.  This morning, I still couldn't completely straighten them, but they're doing much better now.  They're just a little sore.  We ended the day with a bonfire.  We used a bunch of weird wood that looked like it was the remains of somebody's house.  There were a few pieces that consisted of several beams of wood that were still nailed together.  We threw them in the fire anyways without breaking them apart.  We had a nice crackly fire with a lot of embers popping out.  It was a good time.

Today, I went to the gym for the first time in awhile.  I haven't gone since Wednesday and I really started to miss going to the gym.  I wanted to go back.  My schedule has been really weird since Wednesday.  I've been doing a lot of wacky things in the evening.  I miss my workouts and watching my Korean dramas the most.  I really want to get things back to normal for awhile.  The afternoon was spent doing laundry, playing Rock Band, and watching basketball.  I didn't do too badly with the drumming even with a few messed up fingers.  I was so far off with my basketball prediction.  Some of the games were exciting.  Orlando let me down.  It was interesting to watch the news and all of the hooliganism that's been going on Downtown.  They burned stuff.  They looted a shoe store and a gas station.  This is one of the reasons why I'm not such a big a basketball fan.  I don't like people tearing apart the city.  People only do this when the Lakers win.  Nothing really happened with the Angels, or the Ducks, or the Galaxy.

I've been running myself pretty ragged for the past few days.  I don't have a lot of energy these days.  I've been wanting to go to sleep really early.  Tomorrow is Monday.  It's back to work and I don't feel rested.  That's not good.

Kogi BBQ Rookie

  • Jun. 12th, 2009 at 11:23 PM

I was successful in my attempt to chase down the Kogi BBQ truck tonight.  It wasn't exactly what I expected.  The truck was scheduled to be at the Toyota headquarters in Torrance from 6-9PM.  I knew lines for these trucks could get ridiculous.  I ran a few errands after work and found the truck at about 6:15.  There were already about 100 people in line at that time.  Another problem was that the truck wasn't open yet.  The doors were still closed.  So, it was time to wait.  Meanwhile, a few cars from some rice rocket club decided to park their cars in front of the truck in a red zone.  Other than parking their cars there, they didn't seem interested in getting in line or ordering food.  They just felt like parking their cars and showing off at the Kogi truck.  ????  They were really cool guys though and none of them were Asian.

The truck didn't open up until 7PM.  I could see some guy from the truck try to explain why it took so long, but I was so far away that I couldn't hear anything he said.  Oh well, one hour late in opening.  That's not good.  I really wanted to be home by 8PM and this didn't help.  At about 8PM, they closed off the line and limited everybody to a maximum of $11 in food.  I finally got place my order at about 8:30.  By then, I was starving.  I ordered two Korean beef BBQ tacos and a Kogi Dog.  At first, I wanted to bring it home rather than just sit on the sidewalk and it, but that probably would have been messy--and I was really starving.  So, I sat on the curb and ate it there.  I tried the Kogi Dog first.  It was a hot dog with some cabbage and I don't know what else.  It was dark and I really couldn't see what I was eating.  The tacos were really small.  I think you can finish one in about 3 bites.  They were BBQ beef along with that cabbage and other stuff that was on the hot dog.

Was this food any good?  I don't know.  I was starving.  I ended up eating almost 2 hours after I thought I would.  When you're starving, everything tastes good.  It's definitely different from any other roach coach.  You won't get food like that at a normal taco truck, but I don't know if all of that effort was worth it.  People rave about it and it's cool and trendy, but I guess it's one of those things where you have to try it and make your own opinion.  Seriously, when I want food, I want it soon and not 2 hours later.  I could have gone somewhere else, spent less money, and been more satisfied.  Next time, I'll know to get there as early as possible and to eat something before I go.  I'd give it another try now that I know what to expect.

Download Tuesday - One Day Late

  • Jun. 10th, 2009 at 9:53 PM

Yesterday, I downloaded the Iron Maiden 12 pack for Rock Band. Songs in this package are:

"Aces High" (live)
"2 Minutes to Midnight"
"The Trooper"
"Wasted Years"
"Number of the Beast"
"Run to the Hills"
"Can I Play with Madness"
"The Clairvoyant"
"Powerslave"
"Fear of the Dark" (live)
"Hallowed Be Thy Name" (live)
"Iron Maiden" (live)

This brings the total number of songs in my library to 257. All of the live versions are from the "Flight 666" DVD and CD that were released on Tuesday. All of these are master recordings. The rest are studio versions. Until now, the only Iron Maiden tracks for RB were cover versions. Iron Maiden is my favorite band so I was very excited about this package. I've always wanted more of their stuff available for RB and this was like a dream come true. I love all of these songs.

The first song I tried was "Aces High".

I wanted to start with this song because on last year's tour, this was the first song on the setlist. So it was a logical place to begin. The difficulty rating wasn't too bad. I like to take the initial stab at hard level drums. It had been awhile since I've had a long drum session, so I was a bit rusty. I had a very short session last week, but those of you who follow me on Twitter know what happened with that session.  LOL  I didn't have my callouses anymore so I expected to have a very difficult session that night especially since these songs are really difficult and somewhat long. I passed "Aces High" on the first try and it was a good way to start off the night. I had a massive amount of fun on this song.

Next song I passed was "Wasted Years".

This song was not too difficult at all. I think this is rated as the easiest drum song in this package. I could stand a decent shot at passing expert with this song.

Next song passed was "Run to the Hills"

This was a song that was available on RB1 as a cover version and was one of the songs that couldn't be migrated to RB2 with the transfer license. I haven't played it since getting RB2 and it was definitely one of the songs that I miss from RB1 because it's such a fun song on drums and vocals. In the RB1 days, I never felt confident enough to try hard level, but I've improved a lot since then and hard level wasn't too bad at all. This was definitely a load of fun. It's one of those songs with the special freeform endings and you can just go nuts for awhile. Fun stuff.

The last song I passed was "Fear of the Dark"

I've been to a few Iron Maiden live shows and this is always fun because it's one of those "audience participation" songs.  Since this track is a live version, it's fun to hear and it's fun to play because you can hear the crowd and it does all of those obnoxious vocals that are part of the live version.  I failed this song numerous times before passing it.  It was quite a challenge but I wanted to get it down.  It's a very complicated song.

Those were the songs that I passed on the first night.  There were a lot of failures.  If I took it down a level I could probably breeze through these songs, but it won't be very fun.  I like failing every now and then as long as I eventually pass a song on one of the harder levels.  "Can I Play With Madness" is a song that I feel is underrated in difficulty.  On "Powerslave" I might have to go back to playing in the traditional 4-pad manner if I hope to pass it on the harder levels.  Honestly, I don't know if I can play on a normal RB drum kit anymore.  Those of you who have seen and played on my drum kit know what the deal is.  I'm too used to playing on that kit.  I'm pretty close on "Hallowed Be Thy Name".  I'll get it eventually.  I didn't have time to try all of the songs, but I'm having fun so far.  After a little over an hour of playing, I was soaked.  It was a pretty good workout and I got to sweat a lot.  I'm getting my callouses back and have a few blisters.  That always gives me a sense of accomplishment.  I definitely want to try vocals on these pretty soon.

I don't know if I will ever enjoy a download package as much as I'm enjoying this one.  I don't know what more I could want.  Maybe some old GNR, but I don't know what else.

Miscellaneous Post

  • Jun. 9th, 2009 at 11:26 PM

I'm going to postpone my usual Download Tuesday post until tomorrow.  I've been really busy this evening and I don't have time to do it.  I got the 12 Iron Maiden tracks and those have kept me busy and I worked up a pretty good sweat playing tonight.  I've also gone to bed at almost 1AM for the past few nights and I'd like to go to bed earlier tonight.

It looks like one of the Kogi BBQ trucks in going to be in my area on Friday night.  I'd like to try this because I've always wanted to.  It's going to be over by the Toyota headquarters from 6-9PM.  It comes by a few times a month.  It will be around the area Saturday night, but I don't know if I'm going to be around at that time.  Hopefully, I won't have to wait forever to get a taco.

Also, go Orlando!!  You finally got one and are back in the series.  You can still do it!!

Weekend Recap

  • Jun. 8th, 2009 at 10:22 PM

After buying Green Day tickets, I went off to Little Tokyo for lunch and some shopping.  I wasn't looking for anything in particular.  I just felt like going.  It's been awhile since I've gone to Little Tokyo to do a little browsing.  I didn't know there were so many pho restaurants in LT.  Little Tokyo Galleria has changed a lot.  The supermarket is open.  The entrance to the market on the 2nd level is open.  I can't even remember the last time I saw that open.  Some of the shops that were in the mall portion have moved into the 2nd level of the supermarket.  The tower structure on the 2nd floor in gone.  It's a wide open space with some benches that look like rocks.  The decor is dominated by big giant pink flowers.  The 2nd floor restrooms are new.  The hallway leading to them is brightly lit with a tiled floor and painted walls.  It used to be some really shady looking hallway.  Now, it's really nice.  They're building a spa and fitness center on the third floor where the bowling alley used to be.  It's been awhile wince I've seen this place so lively.  The arcade still sucks.  So many games are broken.

Of course, on any given weekend, you're bound to find random cosplayers roaming around.  Nobody I knew.  However, I did run into Joel (Master Zero) at Jungle #1.  Dude, what's up with Mikomicon's website??  Johnny Rocket's is finally open, but who goes to Little Tokyo for that?  If I go to LT, the last thing I really want is a hamburger and fries.  Little Tokyo was fairly busy for a random weekend where nothing was going on.

I only stayed in Little Tokyo for about 3 hours before heading back to the South Bay.  I ran into [info]slave_to_anime  and [info]chase_the_bunny  at Silvio's Photoworks.  I go in there every now and then to check out used lenses or to buy some other new camera gadgets.  They were pretty far from home so I was surprised to run into them there.  As usual, it's always fun to look at all of the nice things but eventually you talk yourself out of spending money on something.  After that, I went to Book Off and bought a few used domestic CDs.

After dinner, I went to see UP in 3D at The Pike.  3D was fun.  Things pop out at you and seem to be flying around in the middle of the theater.  It was cool.  The movie was really good.  It's a really sweet story.  If you're the sentimental type, then you'll probably enjoy it.  Honestly, I thought this movie was brilliant.  I definitely recommend it.

Sunday was a massive photo editing day and I made a lot of progress.  I found myself uploading some photo requests at 1 AM.  I guess that guest pass feature really works on flickr.  I've never used that before.  I didn't know it would take so long.  I'd say the weekend was fairly productive.

Rock Band DLC

This made my day.

Hell yes!!!  This will keep me busy for awhile.  Sorry in advance to everybody waiting on Fanime photos.  Iron Maiden is my favorite band ever.  If you ask me what my favorite song is, depending on what mood I'm in, I'll probably give you a different answer every time.  I'm definitely looking forward to "Fear of the Dark", "Hallowed Be Thy Name", "Aces High", and "Powerslave".  I love all of the songs in the pack, but these are probably going to be my favorites.  Each song is going to kick my butt.  I can't wait to try all of it.

Mission of the Day

  • Jun. 6th, 2009 at 10:13 AM

I accomplished my mission for the day.  I wanted to get Green Day concert tickets and I was successful, probably because I didn't have to use that stupid LiveNation website.  I actually took a few tries at this.  I first opted for nosebleed seats, but the best that the system would give me was already a section way in the back.  Those went rather quickly I guess.  So, I tried a more expensive seat and I'm in the front half of the arena so that's good.  I'm sure it's going to be well worth it.  Franz Ferdinand is the opening act, so it should be a fun show.  Normally, a Tuesday night concert is kinda iffy for me, but it's at the Forum, which is a very short drive from work and about a 20 minute drive home.  Good deal.

I've only been to one concert this year and I really want to go to more.  I missed out on No Doubt tickets.  There are some still available, but I don't want to pay $100.  I haven't been to a rock show in awhile.  The rock show I went to was Iron Maiden over 1 year ago.  The Korean show I went to a few months ago was mostly pre-recorded background music--a karaoke show.  It will be fun to see a 100% live show and Green Day is a great band.  I'm looking forward to this.  I really love the new CD.

Today I want to see Up.  A few theaters in the area have it in 3D.  That might be fun, but I have so many errands to run.  Arrgh.
